“Love Island USA Contestant Ousted for Racial Slur Video”

Alannah Keyser, a 21-year-old contestant, has been ousted from the current season of Love Island USA after a video resurfaced online showing her using a racial slur. Her removal occurred shortly after she made a dramatic entrance during the Casa Amor episodes of the reality dating series on Peacock.

The incident unfolded when a Snapchat video of Keyser singing along to a song containing the N-word, believed to be rapper Roddy Ricch’s track “The Box,” came to light shortly after her arrival at the villa on June 21. Love Island USA narrator Iain Stirling announced her sudden departure during Thursday night’s episode, stating, “Alannah has left Casa Amor.”

Following her initial appearance on Season 8, where she seemed to form a connection with contestant Zach Georgiou, viewers noticed a decrease in Keyser’s screen time. Some fans observed that she had been conspicuously edited out of Tuesday’s episode.

Keyser’s case is not an isolated incident this season or within the franchise as a whole. Prior to the season’s premiere, Vasana Montgomery was removed from the show after old footage of her using a racial slur resurfaced.

Notably, in a separate incident last year during Season 7, Yulissa Escobar was also dismissed from the cast due to resurfaced clips of her using racial slurs on a podcast. Escobar later issued a public apology on Instagram, acknowledging her mistake and expressing regret for the impact of her words.

Similarly, Cierra Ortega was removed from the show for similar reasons after clips circulated online. Ortega took to TikTok to express her agreement with the network’s decision to remove her from the villa.

Despite attempts to reach Keyser for comment, CBC News did not receive a response before publication.
