“4 New Michelin-Starred Restaurants Shine in Quebec”

The latest Michelin guide for Quebec has been released, introducing four new restaurants that have been granted prestigious stars. These newly starred restaurants have each received one star out of a potential three. They are Auberge Saint-Mathieu in Saint-Mathieu-du-Parc, Hoogan et Beaufort in Montreal, Le Clan in Quebec City, and Sushi Nishinokaze in Montreal.

The Michelin Guide bestows stars on restaurants based on their exceptional food quality, drinks, and service. Restaurants can attain a maximum of three stars, considered the ultimate recognition in the industry. Inspectors conduct multiple evaluations before assigning a rating.

In the previous Quebec guide edition issued last year, Michelin awarded stars to nine restaurants, mainly located in the Quebec City area. Alongside stars, the guide also highlights restaurants promoting “mindful gastronomy” with green stars and confers the “bib gourmand” title to eateries offering high-quality cuisine at reasonable prices.

The 2026 guide features three newly green-starred restaurants: Coteau in Quebec City, Huit 100 Vingt in Saint-Ambroise-de-Kildare, and Les Mal-Aimés in Cookshire-Eaton. Moreover, seven new bib gourmand recipients include Baumier in Piedmont, Bibine Buvette in Drummondville, Buvette Gentille in Baie-Saint-Paul, Coquette in Sainte-Anne-de-Beaupré, Le Clocher Penché in Quebec City, and Saindoux Restaurant BBQ in Sainte-Marie.

Currently, there are 13 starred restaurants in Quebec, including the two-starred Tanière in Quebec City. The guide has acknowledged a total of 121 Quebec restaurants, with 85 labeled as “recommended,” up from 67 in 2025.

Montreal now boasts five Michelin-starred restaurants. Montreal Mayor Soraya Martinez Ferrada expressed pride in the city being recognized as a prominent gastronomic hub worldwide. Daniel Charbonneau, owner and chef of Les Mal-Aimés in Cookshire-Eaton, mentioned that the green star awarded to his restaurant validates years of dedication to producing top-notch, sustainable cuisine.

Charbonneau emphasized the importance of quality and sustainability in every aspect of their culinary offerings. The recognition in the Michelin guide has already led to increased reservations and interest in visiting his restaurant, showcasing the positive impact of such accolades on attracting customers, especially for establishments located away from major urban centers.
