Real Madrid has imposed fines of 500,000 euros each on Federico Valverde and Aurelien Tchouameni following their altercation during a training session. The incident occurred when the midfielders got into a scuffle, resulting in Valverde being hospitalized due to a head injury.
After the confrontation, Real Madrid initiated disciplinary proceedings against both players. Valverde clarified on social media that no physical blows were exchanged, explaining that he accidentally hit a table and sustained a minor cut that required medical attention.
In an official statement released on Friday, the club announced that the disciplinary measures were implemented after Valverde and Tchouameni expressed deep regret for their actions and apologized to each other.
While Tchouameni returned to training with the team on Friday, Valverde was absent as he continues to recover from the head injury. The disciplinary action comes just before Real Madrid’s crucial match against Barcelona, where a victory is essential to keep their La Liga title hopes alive.
