Marc Messier, a well-known figure in Quebec’s cultural scene, has passed away at the age of 78 after a brief illness. His agency has confirmed his death. Messier had a distinguished career as an actor, appearing in various films, TV shows, and stage productions. One of Messier’s significant achievements was co-writing and performing in the play “Broue,” which he showcased over 3,000 times to more than 3,300,000 viewers for over 35 years alongside his longtime partners Marcel Gauthier and Michel Côté. This comedy, originating from a series of sketches, propelled Messier into the spotlight in 1979. It depicted regular men sharing their stories and woes over drinks at a pub.
Apart from his illustrious theater career, Messier gained acclaim for his roles on television, starting with his breakthrough role in “Lance et compte.” He continued to captivate audiences with his portrayal of Réjean in “La Petite Vie.” Additionally, Messier made a lasting impression with his involvement in the beloved film series “Les Boys.”
