Pop singer Sabrina Carpenter has obtained a temporary restraining order against a man who attempted to enter her Los Angeles residence without permission, causing her significant distress. Court records reveal that Carpenter is pursuing a permanent restraining order against William Applegate, 31, after he trespassed onto a neighbor’s property to breach the security fencing around her home on May 23. According to Carpenter’s declaration, Applegate aggressively tried to force his way into her house by grabbing the door handle, leading her to describe the incident as a deliberate and alarming violation of her safety and privacy.
Carpenter submitted Ring security camera footage as evidence, showing Applegate at her doorstep and refusing to leave even after her security team intervened. Applegate allegedly falsely claimed to know Carpenter and insisted she was expecting him, a fabrication Carpenter vehemently denied. Following his arrest on the same day, Applegate returned to loiter outside Carpenter’s home on two subsequent days, prompting further police intervention.
The court documents indicate that Applegate’s stalking behavior began on April 20, 2026, with Detective Peter Doomanis of the Los Angeles Police Department describing his fixation on Carpenter as disturbing and irrational. A judge has mandated that Applegate stay at least 100 yards away from Carpenter, her residence, vehicle, workplace, as well as her sister and sister’s boyfriend. Applegate is scheduled for a follow-up court appearance on June 17 and faces criminal trespassing charges in a separate hearing on June 18.
