You can’t think about “Toy Story” without TS. And Jessie? A confirmed Taylor Swift fan.
Taylor Swift announced on Monday that she will contribute an original song titled “I Knew It, I Knew You” to the soundtrack of the upcoming fifth installment of the “Toy Story” franchise. The song is set to be released on June 5.
In an Instagram post, Swift expressed her excitement, saying, “It’s a *Toy* Story 🤠 You knew it! I’ve always dreamed of writing for these beloved characters that I’ve admired since my childhood.”
In her signature style, Swift teased the news through a countdown on her website, featuring an image of Jessie, the cowgirl from “Toy Story,” and a billboard with her initials in the movie’s font, subtly hinting at her involvement. Speculation had already begun circulating on social media after Pixar shared a video on Instagram showing a TS billboard and Jessie dancing on top of it, referencing Swift’s hit song “Shake it Off.”
The TS billboard appeared in various locations, including Toronto’s Union Station, as featured on Pixar’s Instagram. Fans quickly noticed 13 clouds on the billboard, Swift’s favorite number, leading to further speculations. They also discovered Easter eggs linking Swift’s updated album cover for “1989 (Taylor’s Version)” on streaming platforms, which featured clouds instead of birds, reminiscent of the Pixar theme. Clouds were even seen when searching for “Taylor Swift” on TikTok.
This isn’t Swift’s first venture into animation. The multiple Grammy winner previously lent her voice to the character Audrey in the 2012 film “The Lorax” and made an appearance on Disney’s animated series “Take Two with Phineas and Ferb” as herself.
“Toy Story 5” is scheduled to premiere on June 19, with the return of Tom Hanks and Tim Allen voicing Woody and Buzz, respectively. The new film will see the iconic duo facing a new challenge: technology.
