Two young individuals from Nova Scotia facing charges of sexual assault and sexual assault with a weapon have both entered pleas of not guilty in the provincial youth court in Truro, N.S. Their legal representatives appeared in court on Monday to submit the pleas and requested an adjournment until June to assess the need for additional information for their defense.
The case is scheduled to reconvene on June 29 to determine trial dates. Crown prosecutor Patrick Young anticipates that the trial will span seven days. The allegations stem from an incident in October 2025 involving members of a youth hockey team in the Truro area.
Initially, four youths were arrested by the police, but charges are proceeding only against the two individuals currently before the courts. Police have confirmed the identification of at least three victims and have indicated the possibility of more coming forward.
