Mystery Surrounds Death of Massive Great White Shark

Researchers are still investigating the cause of death of a massive great white shark that washed ashore near Pictou in northern Nova Scotia. The 580-kilogram male shark was found on a beach and underwent a necropsy over the weekend led by the Marine Animal Response Society. Dr. Laura Bourque from the Canadian Wildlife Health Co-operative in P.E.I. mentioned that no clear reason for the shark’s death was determined, prompting the need for further testing.

Conservation efforts have contributed to the recovery of the great white shark population after a significant decline in the 1970s and 1980s. Climate change has resulted in warmer ocean temperatures, facilitating the northward migration of certain marine species.
