In the upcoming U.S. state visit of King Charles and Queen Camilla, a series of notable events will unfold. These include a private tea, a garden party, and two pivotal speeches—one at a state dinner and the other addressing the U.S. Congress.
Despite the current strained relations between the U.S. and the U.K., the royal couple’s four-day visit aims to commemorate the 250th anniversary of American independence. The itinerary, curated to honor the historical ties between the two nations, will feature various engagements reflecting shared values and cultural connections.
Upon their arrival in Washington, D.C., King Charles and Queen Camilla will be welcomed by President Trump and the First Lady at a private tea. Subsequently, a garden party will bring together a diverse array of guests symbolizing the strong bilateral bonds.
The visit will also include ceremonial military reviews, a bilateral meeting with President Trump, and a historic address by King Charles to the U.S. Congress—the second time a British monarch will have this honor. The state dinner, with speeches by Charles and Trump, will highlight cultural exchanges and diplomatic ties between the nations.
In New York City, the royal couple will engage in various activities, paying tribute to the 25th anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks and participating in events related to literacy, community mentorship, and cultural initiatives. Their visit will culminate in Virginia with engagements focused on community building and environmental conservation efforts.
Notably absent from the itinerary are meetings with Prince Harry and survivors of the Epstein scandal. While calls for such meetings have been made, logistical and diplomatic considerations have reportedly precluded their inclusion in the royal couple’s schedule.
