Justin Bieber achieved a new milestone at the American Music Awards ceremony by securing his fifth win for the best male pop artist category. Hailing from Stratford, Ontario, Bieber had already held the record with four previous wins under the category formerly known as favorite pop/rock male artist, which he first claimed in 2010.
At this year’s awards in Las Vegas, Bieber garnered four nominations, including artist of the year and album of the year for his 2021 release “Swag.” This victory now brings Bieber’s total American Music Awards wins to 19, tying him with the late Kenny Rogers for the second-most wins by a male artist. Michael Jackson holds the top spot with 24 awards.
In a recent concert comeback at Coachella last month, where he headlined the event, the “Peaches” singer made a significant return to the stage after cancelling a tour in 2022 due to health issues related to Ramsay Hunt syndrome.
Other notable winners at the awards ceremony included BTS, who secured the artist of the year award, and Sabrina Carpenter, who clinched the album of the year accolade.
