Golden Knights Penalized for Media Protocol Breach

The NHL sanctioned the Vegas Golden Knights by removing a second-round pick in this year’s draft and imposing a $100,000 fine on head coach John Tortorella for breaching media access protocols post their Game 6 win against Anaheim. Following a decisive 5-1 victory over the Ducks, Tortorella declined to engage with the press as the Golden Knights advanced to face Colorado in the Western Conference final. Additionally, the team failed to comply with league and Players’ Association guidelines by not opening their dressing room. The NHL stated that these penalties were imposed following prior warnings issued to the Golden Knights. The team has been given the chance to appeal the decision at commissioner Gary Bettman’s office in New York next week. In response to the NHL’s actions, the Golden Knights acknowledged the announcement but stated that they would not provide any further comments on the matter.
