“Canadian Lotts Win Opening Match at Global Curling Championship”

Canada’s Colton and Kadriana Lott kicked off the global mixed doubles curling championship with a win on Saturday in Geneva, Switzerland. They secured a 6-4 victory over South Korea in the tournament opener by scoring three points in the first end.

Kadriana Lott expressed satisfaction with their strong start despite initial nerves associated with such a significant event. Despite some areas needing improvement, the duo felt more at ease understanding the ice conditions for the upcoming matches.

South Korea managed to narrow the lead to 5-3 by scoring twice in the fifth end. However, Kadriana Lott’s solid play in the sixth end, where she scored a crucial point, extended Canada’s lead to 6-3, preventing a potential tie. Colton Lott praised her performance, highlighting the importance of her shot in maintaining their advantage.

The Lotts, hailing from Gimli, Manitoba, are a highly accomplished mixed doubles curling pair in Canada, boasting two gold, two silver, and a bronze medal from the Canadian mixed doubles championships since 2019. Their ultimate goal is to secure Canada’s first world mixed doubles championship, with upcoming matches against Finland and the United States on Sunday.
