“Canadian Hockey Star Meghan Agosta Returns to the Ice”

Meghan Agosta, a former standout for the Canadian national team in women’s hockey, is making a return to the ice by entering the Professional Women’s Hockey League draft. The 39-year-old forward hailing from Ruthven, Ontario, boasts an impressive Olympic record, having represented Canada in four Olympic Games and securing gold medals on three occasions.

Agosta is among the 235 players deemed eligible for the upcoming PWHL draft scheduled for June 17 in Detroit. The league, currently comprising nine clubs, is set for further expansion in its fourth season.

Having last competed for Canada in 2019 during the Rivalry Series against the United States, Agosta officially declared her retirement from the national team in 2024. Her remarkable Olympic performance includes scoring 17 goals and providing 11 assists across 20 games in her four appearances at the prestigious event.

Notably, Agosta excelled as Canada’s top scorer during the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver, amassing nine goals and six assists in just five games. Following a hiatus post the 2014 Olympics to attend the police academy, she joined the Vancouver Police Department as a full-time constable in 2015 while also making a comeback to the national team.

Her prolific career has seen her climb to the sixth position in all-time scoring for the Canadian women’s hockey team, with an impressive tally of 85 goals and 95 assists in 178 games.
