The Toronto Blue Jays made roster adjustments ahead of their game against the Tampa Bay Rays, placing Addison Barger on the 10-day injured list due to right elbow inflammation. This move was retroactive to Sunday, following Barger’s return from a 29-game absence caused by a sprained left ankle.
Manager John Schneider mentioned that Barger experienced limited range of motion after a strong throw from right field during Saturday’s game against the Los Angeles Angels, leading to the decision to place him on the injured list. On the other hand, left-handed pitcher Eric Lauer was designated for assignment after a tough performance, falling to a 1-5 record with a 6.69 earned-run average following Sunday’s 6-1 loss to the Angels.
In response to these changes, the Blue Jays called up outfielder Yohendrick Pinango from Triple-A Buffalo and added right-hander Yariel Rodriguez to the major-league roster. The team was set to begin a three-game series against the Tampa Bay Rays at Rogers Centre on Monday night.
