“Scotland Defeats Canada 8-5 in 2026 Curling Showdown”

Scotland handed Canada their first defeat at the 2026 mixed doubles curling championship by securing an 8-5 win in the late draw on Tuesday in Geneva. The Scottish team of Katie McMillan and Angus Bryce took control of the game by scoring three crucial points in the fifth end after the teams were tied 3-3. Despite a response from Canada’s Kadriana and Colton Lott, who managed to score two points in the sixth end, the Scottish duo sealed the victory with two more points in the seventh end.

In an earlier match, Canada triumphed over Hungary with a 10-7 win. Dorottya Udvardi-Palancsa and Lorinc Tatar of Hungary initially took a 4-3 lead by scoring four points in the second end. However, the Lott pair from Canada turned the tables by scoring four points in the third end and stealing another point in the fourth end to secure the win.

After Tuesday’s matches, Canada found themselves tied for the top spot in Group B with Italy, both with a record of 5-1. Canada holds the tiebreaker advantage after defeating the defending champions 6-5 on Monday. The Canadian team is set to face Germany, who currently holds a 4-2 record, on Wednesday at 8 a.m. ET.
