“Winners Step Forward: Ontario Duo Claim $80M Lotto Max Prize”

Three months have passed since the $80-million Lotto Max grand prize was won in London, Ont., and the winners are now in the process of claiming their massive jackpot. The Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG) spokesperson, Tony Bitonti, revealed that two individuals have stepped forward to claim the prize, with their identities set to be disclosed once the verification process is finalized.

The draw, which the OLG is dubbing as Ontario’s largest-ever win, took place on December 30, matching the record $80 million awarded by the B.C. Lottery Corp. last year. Bitonti mentioned that the names of the Ontario winners, their relationship, and the specific location of the ticket purchase remain undisclosed. Notably, the ticket was bought in a store and not through the OLG mobile app.

Although many winners would promptly claim a substantial prize, Bitonti highlighted that it is common for individuals to take time before cashing in on such a significant amount. Winners often seek advice from family members, financial advisors, and possibly lawyers before officially claiming the life-changing jackpot. The winners have up to one year from the draw date to claim the prize, encouraging them to check their tickets promptly and arrive at the prize center prepared.

Regarding damaged tickets, OLG has a specialized lab capable of restoring them for verification purposes, ensuring rightful winners receive their prizes. While large wins are typically claimed, there are instances of unclaimed prizes, with the OLG listing significant unclaimed amounts on their website. Unclaimed prizes eventually return to the OLG prize pool.

As the excitement builds for tonight’s Lotto Max draw edging closer to the $80-million mark, currently standing at $75 million, the anticipation for the next potential jackpot winner continues to grow.
