In the aftermath of the recent apprehension of an alleged member of the Satan’s Choice gang in Windsor, the Ontario Provincial Police revealed that the outlaw motorcycle group has been experiencing a surge in membership statewide since the previous summer. Acting Detective Superintendent Andy Bradford disclosed in an interview with CBC News that the gang reformed in August 2025, resulting in a rapid increase in recruitment and expansion over the past 10 months.
Known for engaging in illicit activities such as drug and weapon trafficking, kidnappings, and homicides, the Canadian-organized biker gang, Satan’s Choice Motorcycle Club, was established in the 1950s. Its prominence escalated in the 1960s, solidifying its position as one of the leading biker gangs in Ontario.
Following its dissolution in 2000 as the Hells Angels absorbed several branches, Satan’s Choice is now undergoing a resurgence, as noted by law enforcement authorities. Detective Superintendent Bradford highlighted the challenges in monitoring the gang’s fluctuating membership due to its fluid nature, emphasizing the lucrative criminal landscape in Southwestern Ontario.
In the early hours of May 22, Windsor police seized numerous loaded firearms, ammunition, and a biker vest adorned with the Satan’s Choice emblem from a residence in Tecumseh. The arrest of 41-year-old Andrew Vincent Bastien, a self-professed member of Satan’s Choice, led to several charges related to weapons possession.
According to the OPP, Harley Guindon claims to be the driving force behind Satan’s Choice in Ontario. Guindon announced the club’s relaunch and expansion plans across Canada on social media last August. In a subsequent social media post, Guindon declared Bastien as a former member who had recently defected to another group, denying his current affiliation with Satan’s Choice.
Criminology expert Stephen Schneider from Saint Mary’s University emphasized the symbolic significance of club patches, stressing the obligation for departing members to return them. Schneider also commented on the discovery of weapons in a residential setting, suggesting that individuals involved in such activities might not exercise the best judgment.
The OPP’s Biker Enforcement Unit, dedicated to investigating criminal activities associated with motorcycle gangs, collaborates with local law enforcement agencies. While neither Windsor police nor the OPP hinted at further arrests, Windsor police affirmed their commitment to combatting gun, gang, and drug-related crimes through proactive measures and partnerships with community agencies.
