“Ottawa Charge Defeats Boston Fleet 3-1 in Series Tiebreaker”

Ronja Savolainen and Fanuza Kadirova each found the back of the net, while Gwyneth Philips made 30 saves as the Ottawa Charge triumphed over the Boston Fleet 3-1 at the Tsongas Center on Saturday night, drawing the series level at one game apiece. The Fleet had previously emerged victorious in Game 1 with a 2-1 scoreline.

Gabbie Hughes sealed the win for Ottawa with an empty-net goal, extending their lead. On the other side, Megan Keller managed to score a goal for Boston. Savolainen opened the scoring by firing a wrist shot from the blue line past goaltender Aerin Frankel late in the first period. Kadirova then doubled Ottawa’s lead in the second period with a powerful shot from the right circle that eluded Frankel’s glove.

Keller pulled one back for the Fleet just before the end of the second period, slotting the puck into the net off the back post. The Charge will now be the hosts for Game 3 against the Fleet on Friday.
