“Every Year After” Renewed for Season 2 on Prime Video

Prime Video’s series “Every Year After,” adapted from Carley Fortune’s bestselling novel “Every Summer After,” has been greenlit for a second season. The show, featuring Sadie Soverall and Matt Cornett, and produced by Carley Fortune, premiered earlier this season.

The plot spans six years and a poignant weekend, centering on Percy and Sam, childhood friends torn apart by a pivotal event, only to reunite years later at a funeral, igniting a complex love story.

The upcoming season will draw inspiration from Fortune’s book “One Golden Summer,” set in Barry’s Bay, Ont. The storyline revolves around Sam’s brother, Charlie, who finally finds love. Alice, a photographer seeking solace at her childhood retreat, faces unexpected upheaval when the charismatic and irresistible Charlie resurfaces, evoking feelings of youthful passion and unexpected possibilities.

Peter Friendlander, Prime Video’s head of global TV, praised the immense success of “Every Year After,” highlighting the broad appeal of Carley Fortune’s narrative and the audience’s strong attachment to the Barry’s Bay universe.

Carley Fortune, a prominent Toronto-based journalist and author, has a rich portfolio including “Meet Me at the Lake,” “Every Summer After,” “One Golden Summer,” “This Summer Will Be Different,” and “Our Perfect Storm.” “Meet Me at the Lake” made waves on Canada Reads in 2024, championed by fashion influencer Mirian Njoh, marking the first romance novel featured on the show.

“Every Year After” is currently available for streaming on Prime Video.
