The incident involved a child being bitten on the head by the coyote in a park located near Roy Rainey and Bur Oak avenues at approximately 7:30 p.m. The victim, a five-year-old, was promptly transferred to a hospital for treatment, with the injury fortunately deemed non-life-threatening.
Residents are advised to exercise vigilance when in parks around McCowan Road and 16th Avenue in Markham. This advisory comes after a similar incident occurred last week where a 16-year-old girl was bitten by a coyote in the vicinity of Mingay and Bur Oak avenues, resulting in minor injuries that required hospitalization.
Authorities emphasize the importance of remaining alert, maintaining a safe distance from wildlife, and refraining from approaching or attempting to feed any coyotes encountered in the area.
