“Halifax Tides FC Triumphs 3-1 in Women’s Soccer Season Opener”

Jordyn Rhodes and Julianne Vallerand found the net in the second half to guide Halifax Tides FC to a 3-1 victory over Ottawa Rapid FC in the opening match of the Northern Super League women’s soccer season. Rhodes broke the deadlock at the 78-minute mark, putting Halifax up 2-0, but Ottawa’s Nicola Golen quickly responded with a goal two minutes later. Vallerand extended Halifax’s lead to 3-1 at the 84-minute mark. Addison Weichers also contributed a goal for Halifax, opening the scoring at the 38-minute mark.

In another match, Elyse Bennett scored a goal in each half as the Montreal Roses secured a 2-0 win over the Calgary Wild at McMahon Stadium. Bennett gave the Roses the lead in the 37th minute and then doubled the advantage early in the second half. The Roses had more shots on goal, outshooting the Wild 10-8 (6-5 on target), and maintained 53% possession throughout the game.
