The 12th edition of the Canadian Arts & Fashion Awards (CAFA) recently graced Montreal, a departure from its usual Toronto venue. Hosted by singer and model Caroline Vreeland alongside television and radio personality Isabelle Racicot, the ceremony spotlighted Canadian fashion luminaries and their contributions.

Among the esteemed honorees were journalist Tim Blanks, recipient of the Vanguard Award, and model Coco Rocha, who was bestowed with the Changemaker Award. Notably, designer Dorothy Grant was recognized with the inaugural Indigenous Fashion Award.

Renowned for showcasing daring and innovative attire, the CAFAs once again showcased a vibrant array of fashion statements and celebrated local design talent.

– Coco Rocha graced the event in a striking strapless gown by Leeland Mitchell, complemented by jewelry from Montreal’s Château D’Ivoire.
– Caroline Vreeland captivated onlookers in a white corset gown with a mermaid hem, elegantly paired with a coordinated hat.
– Sara Camposcarone, known for her sustainable maximalist style, donned a metallic pink Eliza Faulkner gown, accentuated with red lace gloves, ribbons, and a unique doll-shaped purse.
– Hair and makeup artist Karine Poirier, a rising talent on the CAFA New Gen List, adorned herself in a drapey, low-cut halter-neck gown by Raphaella Santana, complemented by a black leather clutch and heels.
– Evan Clayton, a nominee for womenswear designer of the year, showcased a distinctive look featuring a black blazer by Versace, statement hosiery, and a feathered headpiece by Wuthering Delight.
– Icesis Couture, winner of Canada’s Drag Race season 2, turned heads in a custom green ensemble by Evan Clayton, complete with a unique hat collaboration.
– Eliza Faulkner, another womenswear designer of the year nominee, exuded elegance in an icy blue dress matched with a bag of her own creation.
– Janet Jackson, a nominee for hair artist of the year, exuded sophistication in a dramatic off-the-shoulder velvet gown accented with sculptural gold jewelry.
– Duyen Huynh, also a hair artist of the year nominee, stood out in a custom cream-colored corset gown and lace top by Adam X Atelier, accessorized with leather gloves, earrings, and a bag crafted from her wig collection.
– Myles Sexton made a statement in a beaded red-and-black gown by Maikaelo, enhanced by jewelry from Opulence Global.
– Vanja Vasic, the Fashion Art Toronto director and CAFA committee member, showcased a tailored all-black outfit featuring exaggerated shoulders and a fringed waist peplum.
– Tristan Réhel, an emerging talent nominee, collaborated with Montreal stylist Hajia Maa to present a vibrant ensemble comprising pieces from various emerging designers.

The CAFA event once again demonstrated the creativity and artistry of the Canadian fashion industry, showcasing a diverse range of styles and talents on the prestigious red carpet.
