Mark Scheifele completed a hat-trick in overtime, leading Canada to a narrow 6-5 victory over Norway in the world hockey championship on Thursday.
Norway surged ahead 5-4 in the third period, courtesy of goals by Noah Steen and Tinus Luc Koblar, scored within two minutes of each other.
With two minutes and 15 seconds left, Canada substituted goaltender Cam Talbot for an extra attacker, resulting in Ryan O’Reilly’s goal that forced the game into overtime.
Scheifele notched an assist in addition to his hat-trick, securing a four-point game.
Teammate Gabriel Vilardi of the Winnipeg Jets contributed a goal and an assist, while Dylan Cozens also found the net. Evan Bouchard provided three assists.

Steen scored twice, while Eskild Bakke Olsen and Johannes Johannsen netted Norway’s other goals.
Canada now leads Group B with 11 points (three wins in regulation, one in overtime) and will take on Slovenia in their next match on Friday.
