Anderson, a 36-year-old Indigenous man with ties to various First Nations communities in the region, including Webequie First Nation where he grew up, was in Thunder Bay for a training program. The community, deeply impacted by his disappearance, has come together to support search efforts, with members from surrounding First Nations and Manitoba joining the search along with Guardian Migizi Security, an organization aiding during emergencies.
This incident follows the disappearance of two individuals from Mishkeegogamang First Nation, Ashlynn Bottle and Nodin Skunk, who were reported missing in Thunder Bay but are no longer subjects of a missing persons investigation. The series of disappearances has raised concerns, prompting community leaders like Alvin Fiddler, Grand Chief of Nishnawbe Aski Nation, to stress the need for enhanced support and collaboration to prevent such incidents in the future.
As the search for Anderson continues, authorities have been conducting investigations, including checking his last known whereabouts through cell phone data and financial transactions. Search teams have covered various areas in Thunder Bay, urging the public to assist by checking their security cameras and properties for any relevant information.
