Joining forces with Jon Bernthal, 49, his co-star in The Odyssey and the upcoming Spider-Man: Brand New Day, Holland braved the show’s notorious challenge of answering questions while consuming increasingly fiery wings.
Despite successfully navigating all 10 rounds of the spicy wing challenge, Holland encountered an unexpected twist after his final bite. In a first for the 11-year history of the show, the actor became the inaugural guest to vomit during an episode. Fortunately, the incident occurred off-camera, sparing viewers from any unsettling visuals.
During the show’s closing moments, as they were filming the outro, Holland experienced a bout of coughing followed by a brief moment of throwing up beneath the table. Bernthal, playing the role of a supportive hype man, enthusiastically egged on the situation, encouraging photos to be taken. Holland, with a grin, embraced the moment, proudly declaring his lack of mess on his designer clothes.
Reflecting on the unprecedented occurrence, Bernthal questioned host Sean Evans about similar incidents on set, to which Evans acknowledged the rarity of such an event.
