Prince Harry and Meghan have returned to the United Kingdom after residing in the United States for six years, according to reports from U.K. media sources. The decision to return surprised both fans and critics, with their plane landing at Birmingham International Airport around noon local time after a private charter flight from Van Nuys, California.
Their children, Prince Archie (7) and Princess Lilibet (5), have been enrolled in British schools and are set to begin classes in September. The family will be residing in a private nonroyal residence outside of London, although the exact location has not been disclosed.
Having relinquished their royal duties over six years ago to pursue opportunities with Netflix and Spotify, Harry and Meghan’s relationship with the Royal Family deteriorated due to allegations of insensitivity towards Meghan’s mental health and accusations of racism and media manipulation. Harry has expressed a desire for reconciliation, especially to spend time with his father, King Charles, who is undergoing treatment for an undisclosed form of cancer.
