“Mysterious Object Stuns B.C. Residents: UFO or Rocket?”

In the night sky, a mysterious object captured the attention of residents in various regions of British Columbia, including the north, Interior, parts of Alberta, and Vancouver Island on Tuesday night. Between 10:15 and 10:30 p.m. PT, witnesses observed a large, white shape slowly gliding across the horizon before vanishing.

Sarah and Jared Siemens from Vanderhoof, B.C., who had been discussing the existence of UFOs with their son just hours earlier, were astonished to witness the phenomenon, leading them to reconsider their beliefs. Videos of the unidentified object were shared on social media by residents in different communities spanning hundreds of kilometers, from Williams Lake to Prince George and Fort St. John.

Numerous speculations arose regarding the nature of the sighting, with suggestions ranging from a weather balloon to a SpaceX rocket. Malhar Kendurkar, the president of the Prince George Astronomical Observatory, identified the object as SpaceX’s Falcon 9 rocket, which had been launched from the Vandenberg Space Force Base in California earlier that evening.

Experts noted that the night sky is becoming increasingly crowded with various artificial objects, including drones, private satellites, and rockets, making it challenging to distinguish natural phenomena like stars. The proliferation of such sightings underscores the growing interest and curiosity about celestial events among the public.

The incident serves as a reminder of the vast and complex activities that occur above us in space, prompting scientists to leverage public observations to enhance their understanding of the evolving celestial landscape.
