The Toronto Maple Leafs have made new additions to their management team, appointing Judd Brackett as assistant general manager and Freddie Hamilton as chief of staff. Brackett, previously with the Minnesota Wild and Vancouver Canucks, will be responsible for player evaluation, while Hamilton, a former NHL player with an MBA from Yale, brings business expertise.
These hires are part of a series of changes initiated by new general manager John Chayka and senior executive adviser Mats Sundin. The team recently parted ways with head coach Craig Berube following a disappointing 2025-26 season. Chayka praised Brackett’s scouting background and Hamilton’s business acumen, emphasizing their role in enhancing the Maple Leafs’ hockey operations.
The Maple Leafs currently hold the top pick in the upcoming NHL draft after securing it through the draft lottery.
