Israel Strikes Southern Lebanon, 10 Dead

Israel conducted multiple airstrikes in southern Lebanon resulting in at least 10 fatalities, as Hezbollah launched rockets and drones at northern Israel, injuring two soldiers. Both sides continued the attacks despite a ceasefire in place since April 17.

The Israeli military advised residents of Habboush village in Lebanon to evacuate due to the proximity to Hezbollah facilities. An airstrike in Habboush resulted in six deaths, including a woman and a child, and eight injuries. Additionally, four individuals were reported killed in strikes on three other southern villages.

Hezbollah issued six statements confirming the launch of drones and rockets at Israeli military positions. The Israeli military confirmed a drone strike by Hezbollah in northern Israel near the border with Lebanon, causing a fire and injuring two soldiers.

Paramedics in southern Lebanon recovered the bodies of five individuals, including a man and his three sons, from the village of Kfar Rumman. The Lebanese army reported a soldier, Ali Jaber, was also killed in the airstrike.

Residents in southern Lebanon have started to return to their homes despite the ongoing conflict. Umm Ali Khodor, whose apartment was damaged in previous conflicts, expressed the challenges faced but decided to return to her home.

Amid the conflict, the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies condemned the targeting of Red Cross volunteers in Lebanon, with two volunteers killed and 18 wounded by Israeli strikes. The IFRC official also highlighted attacks on health facilities in Iran.

The latest Israel-Hezbollah war began in March, leading to numerous airstrikes and a ground invasion by Israel in southern Lebanon. Direct talks between Lebanon and Israel, for the first time in decades, have taken place. The ceasefire declared in Washington has been extended, with Lebanon reporting 2,618 deaths and 8,094 injuries from the conflict.
