For U.S. citizens, possessing a valid passport is the simplest way to gain entry into Canada. Alternatively, various accepted documents such as a birth certificate, certificate of citizenship, or an enhanced driver’s license can be used. Travelers from other countries may need a visa or electronic travel authorization (eTA) to enter Canada, especially those accustomed to intra-European travel for soccer events.
Notably, amidst the FIFA World Cup preparations, heightened measures have been implemented due to the Ebola outbreak in central Africa. The Canadian government has temporarily suspended immigration documents from countries affected by the outbreak, aligning with the U.S. and Mexico to strengthen travel restrictions during the tournament.
Traveling with children for whom one lacks legal custody necessitates a consent letter from the child’s parent or guardian, along with valid identification documents and any required travel authorizations. Accredited FIFA World Cup travelers are advised to utilize advance declaration services at designated Canadian airports and present their accreditation letter upon arrival.
