“Community Demands Answers on Anniversary of Children’s Disappearance”

Under a clear sky in central Nova Scotia, approximately 50 individuals gathered outside an RCMP detachment on Saturday to seek answers regarding the disappearance of two young children exactly one year ago. The incident, which occurred on May 2, 2025, involved six-year-old Lilly Sullivan and her four-year-old brother Jack wandering from their home in rural Lansdowne Station, located about 140 kilometers north of Halifax.

Despite the passage of time, scant clues have surfaced about their location. A senior RCMP official expressed a slim possibility of the children still being alive. Staff Sgt. Rob McCamon mentioned that there was no indication of abduction or criminal involvement, but all potential scenarios are under scrutiny.

During the “Rally for Justice” in Stellarton, N.S., the children’s paternal grandmother emphasized the frustration of receiving no responses from the RCMP for a year. She called for increased transparency from law enforcement without compromising the investigation.

The stress of the unresolved case has been somewhat alleviated by the widespread support received from across the country and globally, said Belynda Gray, expressing gratitude for the love shown towards Lilly and Jack. Attendees of the rally carried signs with the children’s images accompanied by direct messages demanding justice and answers.

Rally organizer Kent Corbett urged the RCMP to improve communication with the public regarding the case’s status. He emphasized the need for clarity on ruled-out scenarios. RCMP Staff Sgt. Curtis MacKinnon assured the crowd of the extensive efforts being made to locate the missing children, with officers from various regions collaborating on the investigation.

MacKinnon encouraged the public to provide factual tips, emphasizing the importance of avoiding speculation and focusing on concrete information. While acknowledging the public’s interest, McCamon underscored the need for verifiable details and mentioned undisclosed aspects of the investigation to maintain operational security.
