Police in northwest Calgary are conducting an investigation following the discovery of two deceased children inside a vehicle. The incident unfolded around 10 a.m. on Thursday when authorities responded to a call in the 4500 block of 14th Street N.W. Upon reaching the scene, officers located and searched a stationary vehicle, subsequently arresting a nearby man.
According to Staff Sgt. Darren Smith, the children are believed to be under 10 years old. The circumstances surrounding their deaths are regarded as suspicious, prompting the involvement of the homicide unit for further investigation.
Expressing shock over the situation, Smith emphasized the emotional toll on law enforcement personnel, stating, “This is very hard on our officers. Our officers are human and this is heartbreaking for everyone.” The nature of the relationship between the man and the children remains unknown, awaiting clarification by the medical examiner regarding the children’s gender and cause of death.
