Photographer Steve Sheppard was pleasantly surprised by a serendipitous moment during a recent photoshoot in St. Anthony, Newfoundland and Labrador. Initially aiming to capture an iceberg near the Fox Point Light Station, Sheppard redirected his drone towards a closer iceberg due to distance constraints. To his amazement, upon hovering over the iceberg, he discovered a perfectly heart-shaped pool nestled within it.
Describing the experience as requiring a bit of courage to reach the iceberg, Sheppard expressed satisfaction with the unexpected reveal, noting that the topography was indiscernible from the shoreline. Sheppard, who finds icebergs fascinating from his drone’s perspective, highlighted that this year has been exceptional for iceberg sightings, with numerous icebergs dotting the Northern Peninsula, and reports suggesting their presence in the Bonavista and Twillingate regions as well.
Enthusiastically, Sheppard remarked that the horizon is scattered with icebergs, emphasizing the beauty and abundance of these natural wonders. The captivating heart-shaped iceberg discovery added to his collection of remarkable aerial photographs, showcasing the stunning landscapes of Newfoundland and Labrador.
