Game 5 of the Montreal Victoire versus Minnesota Frost matchup has been rescheduled for Tuesday night due to concerns about player safety related to illness, as stated by the PWHL. The game is set to take place on May 12 at 7 p.m. ET at Place Bell in Laval, Que., according to an announcement made by the league on Monday night. The victor of this game will move forward to face the Ottawa Charge in the final round of the Walter Cup competition.
The decision to delay Monday’s game was disclosed less than three hours before the originally scheduled 7 p.m. ET start time. The league emphasized that this choice was made after consulting with medical experts and aligns with the league’s dedication to safeguarding the health of players, fans, staff, and all involved in the event.
All tickets purchased for the original Game 5 will be valid for the rescheduled game on Tuesday. The league assured that individuals who bought their tickets through the Victoire or Ticketmaster will receive direct communication regarding their tickets.
A medical assessment confirmed that the symptoms exhibited by the affected players or staff do not align with hantavirus. The eventual winner will have the advantage of hosting Games 1 and 2 of the Walter Cup final on dates yet to be announced, with Games 3 and 4 scheduled to take place in Ottawa on May 18 and 20.
