Former Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau visited the set of the CBC comedy series “Son of a Critch” with his youngest son recently. The 12-year-old, who shares his father’s enthusiasm for the show, made a cameo appearance in an upcoming episode. Creator Mark Critch revealed that the young Trudeau will be seen in a school scene where classmates receive their roles for a play.
During their two-day visit to the set in St. John’s, Newfoundland, Trudeau and his son interacted with the cast and crew. Notably, Hadrien impressed actor Malcolm McDowell with his knowledge of the show, sparking engaging discussions about on-set details.
British actor Benjamin Evan Ainsworth, who plays a young Mark Critch on the series, shared that Hadrien showed interest in acting nuances, discussing scene choices, actor positioning, and background tips. The visit was documented by Trudeau on Instagram, expressing gratitude for the experience and praising the show’s authentic Canadian essence.
Critch, known for his appearances alongside Trudeau on “This Hour Has 22 Minutes,” mentioned that he discovered the Trudeaus’ fondness for “Son of a Critch” during his book launch in Ottawa. Trudeau, a father of three, including Xavier and Ella-Grace, has seen his children pursue various interests, such as Xav’s music career debut with the song “Til The Nights Done,” featuring vocals from his sister.
