Montreal has been selected as one of the cities to hold the final Olympic qualifiers leading up to the 2028 Summer Games in Los Angeles, as confirmed by the International Olympic Committee on Thursday. The Olympic Q-Series will also be hosted in Orlando, Tokyo, and Shanghai, showcasing various sports including 3×3 basketball, beach volleyball, BMX freestyle, climbing, flag football, and skateboarding.
Scheduled for June 1 to 4, 2028, Montreal will be the location for the third leg of the series, positioned shortly before the commencement of the Los Angeles Games. All events will be centralized at the Olympic Park hub.
The total cost of the event is estimated at $28 million, with approximately $22 million anticipated to be contributed by governmental entities at different levels. The remaining funding will be supplied by private partners, some of whom have existing affiliations with the Canadian Olympic Committee.
