A small 24-seat restaurant in a village with around 1,500 residents has rapidly gained acclaim as one of Quebec’s top culinary spots. Auberge Saint-Mathieu, situated in Saint-Mathieu-du-Parc in Quebec’s Mauricie region, received prestigious accolades within a few days this month.
Samy Benabed, the co-owner, was named chef of the year at the Lauriers de la gastronomie québécoise and recognized as Michelin’s most promising young chef. The restaurant earned a Michelin star and a Michelin green star, securing the 98th spot on Canada’s 100 best restaurants list.
