SeatGeek Canada has been hit with two additional fines by the Ontario government for allegedly violating a recent law that limits the resale of event tickets at face value. According to the province’s consumer beware website, the fines issued earlier this month to the ticket resale platform amount to a total of $22,500.
The first fine, totaling $15,000, was imposed for allegedly listing a ticket for sale or facilitating the sale of a seat above the resale price limit. The second fine, amounting to $7,500, was issued for allegedly not disclosing the total ticket price when a seat was purchased from a primary seller.
Both the province and SeatGeek Canada have not provided immediate responses to inquiries regarding the events linked to the fines or whether the reseller intends to contest the penalties. In August, the province had already fined the company $25,000 for similar violations.
