Quebec Duo’s Costume Inspires Halloween Trend

Quebec’s popular electric rock duo, recognized for their unique style of microtonality and math rock, as well as their trademark black-and-white, polka-dotted full-body costumes, are now inspiring Halloween costumes for fans. Instead of the usual salt-and-pepper shaker outfits, individuals can opt for the Angine de Poitrine couple’s costume, available for purchase at Party Expert, a prominent party supply store in Canada.

Following the recent media coverage, the costumes quickly sold out online on Tuesday but were restocked the next day. This surge in demand suggests that the avant-garde band’s appeal is expanding beyond niche audiences. Fans have embraced the duo as a symbol of human creativity, praising their commitment to eccentricity, from their experimental electronic sound to their claim of being 333-year-old time-traveling aliens and their preference for conversing in a fictional language during performances.

For a total of $105, enthusiasts can replicate the distinctive white ensemble of drummer Klek de Poitrine or the signature black attire of guitarist Khn de Poitrine this Halloween. When contacted by CBC for comments on the costumes, the band chose not to respond.

Originating from Saguenay, Quebec, the duo formed in 2019 and gradually gained recognition within the local underground music scene before releasing their debut album, “Vol. 1,” in 2024. However, it was their live performance at the Festival Trans Musicales in Rennes, France, in December 2025 that propelled them to international fame. The concert has amassed over 20 million views on YouTube since its posting by KEXP in February.

Their second album, “Vol. II,” released in April, received widespread acclaim, leading to resale tickets for their 2026 tour reaching over $500. The band attracted record-breaking crowds at music festivals and recently clinched the Polaris Album prize and the SOCAN Polaris Song Prize for their track “Fabienk.”

Drummer Klek expressed gratitude for the band’s success, attributing it to perfect timing and their shared passion for music. Party Expert’s description of the replicated Klek costume promises a standout entrance at any event, ensuring that those dressed as the band will be easily noticeable among traditional Halloween characters.

While the costumes are referenced by the artists’ aliases, they are officially labeled as the “Black/White Polka Dot Attack Costume,” with no indication of being licensed by the band. The base costumes retail for $59.99, with the matching masks or hats available for an additional $44.99, making it a relatively costly outfit choice. Some fans have opted for a do-it-yourself approach, creating their own versions of the costumes using simple materials and creativity.
