Aho broke the deadlock with a power-play goal at 14:59 of the first period, followed by Staal and Stankoven extending the lead to 3-0 within a span of 2 minutes and 47 seconds. Jakub Dobes, celebrating his 25th birthday, made 39 saves for Montreal.
Despite the Canadiens showing some offensive spark in the second period, Carolina maintained control and stifled their attempts to mount a comeback. The Hurricanes’ strong defensive play and relentless performance mirrored their dominance in Games 2 and 3, pushing Montreal to the edge.
The home crowd rallied behind the Canadiens in the third period, but Carolina’s solid defense and disciplined play sealed the victory, putting Montreal on the brink of elimination.
