A former Canadian Olympic bobsleigh athlete has made a comeback as the new head coach of Canada’s bobsleigh team. Dennis Marineau, hailing from Calgary, has taken on the role at the age of 63. Marineau previously represented Canada in the 1992 Albertville Winter Olympics and was an active member of the national bobsleigh team for ten years.
With over three decades of experience, Marineau has coached athletes from both Canada and the United States. He served as a technical coach for the U.S. team in the lead-up to the recent Milano-Cortina Winter Olympics, where the American women’s bobsleigh team claimed one gold and two bronze medals. However, Canada failed to secure a spot on the Olympic bobsleigh podium for the first time since 2002.
