In addition to emissions, air quality concerns arise from incinerator expansions. Peel Public Health highlighted potential health risks from toxic pollutants, emphasizing the need for sustainable waste solutions beyond incineration.
Efforts to address waste challenges should prioritize waste reduction strategies like producer responsibility programs and enhancing diversion rates for recyclable waste. These sustainable approaches aim to minimize waste generation rather than resorting to expensive disposal methods like incineration.
