Two days following the apprehension of former reality TV personality Joseph Duggar from “19 Kids and Counting,” an official warrant was issued and enforced against his spouse Kendra Duggar. Tontitown Arkansas Police Department disclosed that Kendra Duggar faced accusations of four counts each of endangering the welfare of minors and false imprisonment in the second degree on Friday. The same charges were also brought against Joseph Duggar, who was previously arrested last week for inappropriate conduct with a minor under 12 years old, as confirmed by the Bay County Sheriff’s Office. The incidents were linked to an alleged 2020 molestation case involving a 9-year-old girl in Panama Beach, Fla., where Duggar confessed to his actions to the victim’s father and authorities.
Joseph Duggar, who was taken into custody in Tontitown, decided to forego an extradition hearing on Friday, paving the way for his transfer to Florida to face the child molestation allegations. Meanwhile, Kendra Duggar was released shortly after her arrest upon posting a $1,470 US bond, as reported by the Washington County Sheriff’s Office website. The Duggar family refrained from commenting on the situation when contacted by CBC News on Monday.
The fresh charges against both Joseph and Kendra Duggar emerge nearly five years subsequent to Joseph’s elder brother Josh’s conviction for possessing child sexual abuse materials. The court case revealed that a computer at a car dealership owned by Josh Duggar was utilized in 2019 to download illicit images depicting the sexual exploitation of children, leading to his sentencing to 12½ years in prison in 2022. The Supreme Court dismissed an appeal against his conviction in 2024.
Both Josh and Joseph Duggar were prominent figures on the reality TV show “19 Kids and Counting,” which chronicled the lives of Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar, a devout Baptist couple raising their sizable family with names starting with the letter J. The show, which originated from the 2004 special “14 Children and Pregnant Again!,” aired from 2008 to 2015 until its cancellation due to allegations of Josh Duggar’s past misconduct involving his siblings and a babysitter. An ensuing series, “Counting On,” was also axed following Josh’s arrest.
Joseph and Kendra Duggar’s courtship and subsequent marriage in 2017 were featured on the reality show “Counting On,” although the couple has chosen to retreat from the public eye in recent times. Their most recent Instagram post from 2021 commemorated their third child’s second birthday.
