A man linked to organized crime activities in Montreal is being charged with murder and cocaine trafficking, and is now facing extradition to the United States.
Identified as Atna Onha, also known as Tupac or 2-Pac, he made a virtual appearance in a Montreal court on Tuesday. The specific details of the charges against him have not been disclosed.
According to sources from Radio-Canada, the 40-year-old individual was apprehended early Tuesday by the RCMP at the behest of the FBI in connection with the case of Ryan Wedding, a former Canadian Olympian who has become a fugitive.
Wedding, a Canadian drug lord who represented Canada in snowboarding at the 2002 Olympic Games in Utah, is listed as one of the FBI’s top 10 most-wanted fugitives.
The U.S. State Department has put forth a reward of up to $10 million US for any information leading to Wedding’s arrest, which stands as the highest reward among the individuals on the FBI’s most-wanted list.
Wedding is facing federal charges related to three murders, involvement in a cocaine trafficking conspiracy, and allegations of “leading a continuing criminal enterprise.”
A press briefing is scheduled for Wednesday in Washington, D.C., in connection with the case, as indicated by sources from Radio-Canada. Expected attendees include U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi, FBI Director Kash Patel, and RCMP commissioner Michael Duheme.
Reports suggest that Onha has affiliations with biker gangs and Mafia entities in Montreal, based on information from Radio-Canada sources.
