“Guelph Storm to Host 2027 Memorial Cup”

The 2027 Memorial Cup has been awarded to the Guelph Storm, as announced by the Canadian Hockey League. The decision coincides with the bicentennial celebration of the city, highlighting the organizational strength, passion, vision, and community spirit of the Storm as emphasized by CHL President Dan MacKenzie.

Guelph emerged as a finalist alongside the Kitchener Rangers to host the Memorial Cup, following a thorough evaluation process. An independent panel of sports experts visited both teams’ facilities before finalizing the decision. Scott Walker, the Guelph Storm partner and president of hockey operations, expressed immense pride in hosting this prestigious junior hockey event during the city’s bicentennial year.

Guelph Mayor Cam Guthrie shared his excitement, stating that the city is prepared to elevate the Memorial Cup into a central element of its 2027 bicentennial festivities. The Memorial Cup in Guelph is scheduled for the spring of 2027, with specific dates to be announced later. The upcoming Memorial Cup will take place in Kelowna, B.C., from May 21 to 31, 2026.
