“George Springer Wins Silver Slugger in Comeback Season”

Toronto Blue Jays leadoff batter George Springer has clinched a Silver Slugger accolade following an impressive comeback season. Springer secured the award as a designated hitter and was also nominated in the outfielder category. The 36-year-old American athlete boasted 32 home runs, 84 RBIs, a .309 batting average, and a .959 on-base-plus-slugging percentage, ranking him second in the American League. His performance in 2025 marked a significant improvement after a lackluster 2024 season where he recorded a career-low .220 batting average with only 19 home runs.

A seasoned player with four All-Star appearances and the 2017 World Series MVP title, Springer previously clinched Silver Slugger awards with the Houston Astros in 2017 and 2019. Noteworthy is his three-run homer in Game 7 of the recent AL Championship Series, propelling the Blue Jays to the World Series, where they faced a thrilling seven-game defeat against the Los Angeles Dodgers. The homer, now famously known as the ‘Springer dinger,’ has become part of the team’s folklore.
