Edmonton Teenager Facing Fresh Terrorism Charges

A teenager from the Edmonton area is facing fresh charges after being placed under a terrorism peace bond due to suspected ties to an online network promoting violent extremism. The 15-year-old was arrested earlier in May, and the RCMP initiated peace bond proceedings under concerns of terrorism-related activities.

Authorities expressed concerns that the youth was involved in potential terrorism acts associated with the 764 online network. This network specifically targets susceptible children through platforms like Minecraft and Roblox, enticing victims into private online conversations. The 764 network reportedly encourages youths to engage in sexual acts, self-harm, and animal cruelty, with some members holding extreme ideological beliefs and preying on children by desensitizing them and pushing them towards violence.

In a recent development, the police stated that the latest charges against the teenager were prompted by escalating behavior in an incident from February 2025. A peace bond enables authorities to monitor individuals showing signs of potential criminal behavior when no concrete evidence of wrongdoing exists.

Following a forensic examination of the teenager’s electronic devices, the RCMP brought forth new accusations, including involvement in terrorist group activities, promoting hatred, making threats, and possessing child sexual abuse materials. While the authorities have not disclosed further details about the teen due to legal restrictions under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, it has been confirmed that the individual is a male based on previous court appearances reported by CBC News.

The teenager remains detained at the Edmonton Young Offender Centre, as confirmed by the RCMP, and is set to appear in court on Friday for further legal proceedings.
