“Amber Alert Toddler Found Safe, Father Wanted in Deadly Shooting”

A toddler has been safely located after an Amber Alert, while authorities are now seeking her father in connection with a deadly shooting in Brampton, Ontario. The Ontario Provincial Police issued the alert at 5 p.m., but it was later rescinded. Constable Mandeep Khatra confirmed that the child was found unharmed by the police and is believed to have been left with family members.
The whereabouts of the child were not disclosed, but the father, a 38-year-old man who allegedly took her, is now wanted in connection with the fatal shooting of a woman earlier that day. Police were summoned to a plaza parking lot near Queen Street E. and Airport Road around 2 p.m., where the victim was declared dead at the scene.
The suspect departed the scene in a vehicle with the child in the backseat, as per Constable Khatra. The police believe the incident to be related to intimate partner violence but are exploring all leads. The suspect is believed to have departed the Niagara Region and is considered armed and dangerous. Authorities have described the suspect as five feet nine, 175 pounds, with hazel eyes and short brown hair. He was last seen wearing a dark hoodie and blue jeans, carrying a black crossbody bag.
Residents in the Crystal Beach area of Fort Erie were advised to secure their homes as the suspect was thought to be in the vicinity, although police later stated he had likely left. The public is urged not to approach the suspect or his vehicle but to contact 911 immediately if spotted. Investigators are requesting any individuals with relevant dashboard or surveillance footage to come forward with information.
