“U.A.E. Targeted by Iran in Strait of Hormuz Breach”

The United Arab Emirates reported being targeted by Iran in the recent breach of the Middle East ceasefire, following U.S. President Donald Trump’s actions to reopen the vital Strait of Hormuz. The U.S. military disclosed sinking six Iranian small boats in its efforts to restore the strait’s operations.

The U.A.E. Defence Ministry confirmed Iran’s launch of four cruise missiles, with three intercepted and one landing in the sea. Additionally, an Iranian drone caused a fire at a significant oil facility in Fujairah. Two cargo ships were also reported ablaze off the U.A.E. coast.

Three Indian nationals sustained injuries at the Fujairah Oil Industry Zone and were promptly hospitalized. Swift civil defense responses were initiated to contain the resulting fire.

Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney and British Prime Minister Keir Starmer condemned Iran’s unprovoked attacks on the U.A.E., advocating for de-escalation and diplomatic resolutions. The U.S. military’s announcement of merchant ships successfully navigating the strait contradicted Iran’s denial of such events through the Revolutionary Guard Corps.

Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Aragchi emphasized the futility of military actions in the region, highlighting ongoing diplomatic dialogues mediated by Pakistan. Meanwhile, the closure of the Strait of Hormuz by Iran has significantly impacted global fuel prices and economic stability.

Amid escalating tensions, the U.S. affirmed the strait’s clearance of Iranian mines and thwarted threats on civilian ships. U.S. War Secretary Pete Hegseth was scheduled to brief on operational updates alongside Air Force Gen. Dan Caine.

Efforts to reopen the strait aimed to aid stranded seafarers affected by the conflict, yet Iran dismissed these actions as part of Trump’s “delirium.” The Joint Maritime Information Center advised vessels to navigate through Oman’s waters to avoid risks associated with the strait’s closure.

The inability of commercial vessels to transit the strait has prompted concerns from shipping and oil industry leaders regarding the necessity for a comprehensive resolution to the conflict. In a related development, Pakistan received crew members from an Iranian vessel seized by the U.S., marking a step towards confidence-building measures amidst peace negotiations.
