Sarnia police have apprehended a London resident linked to a deadly shooting at Lambton College’s campus bar earlier this month. The individual, identified as Kyaw “Chin” Doe, aged 24, was found at a residence in London. Doe, who was the subject of a nationwide warrant and a $50,000 reward, surrendered to authorities following the containment of the home by London police and the emergency response unit.
According to police, Doe has been charged with second-degree murder, along with two counts of attempted murder and possession of a firearm while prohibited. The charges are related to the shooting incident that resulted in the death of 20-year-old Dane Nisbet and injuries to two others outside the college’s campus bar on April 10.
Law enforcement alleges that prior to the shooting, Doe engaged in confrontations at various bars and restaurants before reaching the campus pub. The police had previously searched an area near the Boullee Street public housing complex in London, where they suspected Doe resided.
Three other individuals had already been arrested in connection with the shooting incident. Police had reason to believe that Doe was still in Canada and receiving assistance to evade capture. The specific location of Doe’s arrest in London and whether the $50,000 reward played a role in his apprehension were not disclosed in the police statement.
